Windows 8 is the latest version of windows operating system. To pin and hide the apps allows you to organize your commonly used apps closer to the search field and access the fastly.
Press Windows Key + C to display the Charms bar and click Search. Inside the Search box you will see there are Apps then Settings and Files after that a list of other Windows 8 apps installed on your system.
For changing the order of the apps you need to make a right click an app in the list and then click Pin or Hide.
It is very simple but effective tip to make Windows 8 more customized and easier to use.
